Winter hikes in the South Tyrolean Alps
The Mendel, Kaltern’s local mountain, is the perfect place for wonderful winter hikes. Due to the well-marked and signposted trails, you can walk through the enchanting landscape all year round.
Skiing and snowboarding
In the ski resort Mendelpass you can enjoy 2 kilometers of slopes for skiing and snowboarding. The ski resort is well suited for beginners, but also for the experienced skier. The winter sports area is located at an altitude of 1365 to 1592 meters.
Summer hikes in the South Tyrolean Alps
With a vacation on the Mendel, you have numerous, beautiful hiking opportunities right under your nose. You can hike either on the Mendola itself or in Kaltern and its surroundings. With a short drive you can also reach other impressive hiking destinations, such as the Dolomites.

Get on your bike and start a tour directly from your apartment. The Mendel is the perfect place for avid cyclists as there are numerous great bike paths. A trip up the Mendel is a special experience, a breathtaking view of the vineyards of the Überetsch and the mountain landscape of the Dolomites is guaranteed.
Swimming in nearby lakes
Within a short driving time you can reach 2 wonderful lakes, Lake Kaltern and Lake Montiggl. Whether you go to the Lido or find your own suitable spot on the lake is up to you.
Nearby museums
Near Apartments Max Mendola there are many interesting museums, such as the South Tyrolean Museum of Archaeology, which houses the legendary “Iceman” named Ötzi, which you can visit.

Shopping in Bolzano

From June to September you can experience a unique end-discovery tour along waterfalls, giant pots and stalactites of the canyons in the Mendel area.
